Bio "La Fibi" was considered to be one of San Francisco's premier Flamenco Dancers. She has studied, performed and taught the Art of Flamenco for over 40 years. Over the course of four decades of immersion in the art form, she developed a reputation as a powerful, dynamic artist, as well as a supportive and strong backup percussionist (palmista) for dancers and musicians. As as performer, she is known for her talent, generous team spirit, and flexibility. As a teacher, she has taught since 1994 and has been an invited guest instructor in the SF Bay Area and nationally. As a producer, she presents the finest Flamenco performers in her exciting shows: FLAMENCO! LIVE! She was born in Hollywood to Actor/Dancer parents and was raised in New York City, Hollywood, San Francisco's Haight Ashbury, and the American South. La Fibi traveled on the road with her mother, a professional dancer, and was surrounded by the world of show business and live Arabic music from the earliest age, performing on stage at the age of four. She studied both flamenco and classical Spanish dance in the U.S. and Spain with La Monica, La Tania, Isa Mura, Rosa Montoya, Maria Magdelena, Jose Antonio, La Tati, Farruquita, Maria Benitez, Luis Ortega, Rafael Campallo, Jose Galvan, Belen Maya, Rocio Molina, Eva "La Yerbabuena" and Juana Amaya. She has studied cante with Roberto Zamora, Briseyda Zarate and Jose Cortes Fernandez. La Fibi performed extensively in the Bay Area and Nationally as a featured Soloist. She was featured in the companies of Los Flamenco's de la Bodega, Rosa Montoya’s Bailes Flamencos, The Flamenco Society of San Jose, La Monica's Arte y Compas, Arte Flamenco de San Jose, and La Tania Flamenco Dance. She has toured nationally with The Boston Flamenco Ballet, Reynaldo Rincon's Romeria Flamenca, the renowned Maria Benitez Spanish Dance Company, and the Madrid based Noche Flamenco at the Hollywood Bowl with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. La Fibi danced at the popular Latin Supper Club, SOL Y LUNA, in downtown San Francisco, where she was an original member of Grupo Sol y Luna, a traditional flamenco cuadro, and as a singer, percussionist, and dancer with The Sol y Luna Band, a progressive Rumba/Flamenco/Salsa fusion band. For almost a decade the group performed at the Great American Music Hall, at fairs, festivals and events and with the nuevo flamenco guitarist Ottmar Liebert. She formed her own Dance Company, LA FIBI FLAMENCO, from 2004 - 2010, and now presents a monthly dinner show at The Big Easy Club and Restaurant in Petaluma, Sonoma County.
